As two iconic companies, DSM and Firmenich, prepared for a historic merger, one of the company’s business units, Health, Nutrition & Care (HNC), needed support with developing an internal communications strategy that would engage and inspire employees around the vision and values of dsm-firmenich.
Liaising with internal stakeholders, we crafted a communications plan that provided clarity and assurance to HNC employees about upcoming changes, executive communications positioning the merger as a crucial forward step for HNC, plus a foundational narrative that set the tone for the new chapter.
HNC enjoyed a smooth start to life as part of dsm-firmenich, with a special edition newsletter on the merger having unprecedented levels of engagement. Narrative Labs is continuing to support HNC through cross-channel communications that keep employees informed and inspired about what’s to come.
Mark has been delivering English content for clients in the private and public sectors for over 20 years. He specialises in annual reports and is the primary contact at Narrative Labs for clients who require liaison with a Dutch speaker. He spends his free time behind bicycle bars.
Meg has extensive experience working with global organisations to create cross-channel communication strategies. From initial creative concepts through to copywriting and production, she’s laser-focused on telling a compelling story that drives real results. In her free time, she’s a front-row regular for any film starring prehistoric beasts on a rampage.
Whether he’s crafting eye-catching copy or shaping multi-channel comms strategies, Tom is always focused on making brand stories accessible, inspirational, and impactful. Writing mostly about the power of sustainable innovation, he combines clear, direct language with subtle wordplay for maximum readability and engagement. He’s also a keen amateur pianist!
With a background in media technology and a master’s in Classics, Róisín is interested in everything from ancient history to physics. She loves helping experts to communicate their passion, working with clients in analytical technology, engineering materials, and more. Outside work, she usually has no fewer than three crochet projects on the go, as she rarely finishes any of them.
With years of experience at creative agencies in Paris and London, Samuel brings a brand-centric perspective to corporate communications. He works with a range of multinational clients in the media, manufacturing, logistics and healthcare sectors. In his spare time, he is also an enthusiastic Lindy Hopper.
Since joining the team in 2020, Sophie has worked on a range of internal and external communications projects, including annual and sustainability reporting, thought leadership campaigns and website (re)launches. She even helped create a 100-page history book for one client – but her greatest achievement is her legendary chocolate brownie recipe.
With a passion for tackling complex topics, Izzy works with clients in fields ranging from materials science to nutrition. She particularly enjoys developing foundational narratives and supporting clients with their internal communications. When she’s not wrestling with word choices, Izzy can be found hunting down second-hand bargains at the kringloopwinkel.
As Creative Director, Mark is the design engine of our agency. Across graphic design, photography and video, he is adept at turning creative concepts into compelling visual content for clients across a wide range of industries. Outside of work, Mark loves story-driven games and science fiction.
Will co-founded Narrative Labs, drawing on his experience of working with leading communications and thought leadership agencies in the UK. He has a particular interest in integrated and ESG reporting and wider sustainability communications. Fun fact: Will grew up in Italy and makes excellent bruschetta al pomodoro.
One year after Mativ was formed from the merger of Neenah and SWM International, the company announced the divestment of its Engineered Papers (EP) business unit. The EP leadership team needed support in communicating the value of this second change to both employees and external stakeholders.
By creating a foundational narrative that set the tone for communications, we were able to deliver a comprehensive package that clearly expressed the benefits to each stakeholder group in a way that resonated with them – with value and EP’s great future potential as a red thread throughout.
Employees within EP were optimistic about the divestment, and the announcement of the proposed deal went smoothly – with both internal and external stakeholders looking forward to a bright future for both Mativ and EP.
In the months leading up to the $4 bn merger of DSM Engineering Materials and LANXESS High Performance Materials, the internal communications team needed versatile support to develop and execute a cohesive strategy that would inspire and inform all stakeholders, both internally and externally.
During this seven-month project, we helped to shape and implement the communications strategy as part of the merger team. From leadership communications and external statements to employee resources and engaging video content, we told the inspiring story of the new joint venture across all channels.
Engagement remained high throughout the lead-up to Envalior’s debut, and employees joined in projects with real enthusiasm. Narrative Labs is helping to keep up this positive momentum by continuing to implement consistent internal communications and a forward-looking communications strategy.
With a now-distant background in journalism, Sam has spent over a decade in corporate communications. He particularly enjoys wrestling with complex topics and writing executive speeches and core message documents. Away from the office, Sam spends most of his time making pottery in his ceramics studio.
